The first step to an efficient pickup/teardown process is appropriate parking.
DO NOT leave pavement or gravel with a truck or you will end up like the picture and potentially ruin an event because you cannot get the equipment out of the truck.
Be very safety aware. There are hazards at event sites residential and public. There are often crowds of people and overhead/other hazards.
Get your truck into position to be efficient.
Residential deliveries have driveways to deal with. We don't normally pull into driveways unless it's a longer driveway of course.
If there is a liftgate on the truck you are using the truck should be running while using the liftgate.
STEP 2 - TEAR DOWN (1 unit pickup)
STEP 2 - TEAR DOWN (1 unit pickup)
STEP 2 - TEAR DOWN (1 unit pickup)
First thing you need to do is clean the unit if instructed. There are times of the year where we will clean on-site at pickup. Cleaning on site involves vacuum, spray down, wipe down. This gets done while the inflatable is inflated.
If you are not cleaning on site then you can begin takedown AFTER you inspect visually for any damage or excessive filth. If those conditions exist let your manager know before your shift is over and/or write it on the cleaning list at the shop.
1 person removes stakes and un-zips zippers. Always remove stakes first.
Stakes should always be placed next to the blower so they don't get lost NEVER leave stakes on the ground where you take them out ALWAYS place them by the blower.
Other person wraps up the extension cord and blower and if finished prior to the other employee then you help them finish.
Now that the stakes are out, cord and blower wrapped up and unit deflated you are now ready to fold and roll as a 2 person job.
FOLD the unit appropriately then walk out excess air. The flatter the fold the better and tighter the roll will be. Tight rolls make it easier to load/unload.
We like rolls to be around 4-5ft tall depending on the unit. Short and fat is not what we want. About a foot shorter than the height of your dolly is the right height of a roll.
Once the unit is rolled then you put it on the dolly and you should be able to load the blower, cord and stakes etc also on the dolly and make 1 trip out.
If there is a tarp the you would fold and roll that as well.
Inspect the area to make sure you are not leaving anything on the ground. Stakes left behind are not only expensive to lose but also can cause injury to the property owner if they were to run it over with a mower for example.
Load the truck and secure your cargo.
Open up the ERS Drivers app and make sure 1) you didn't forget to pick anything up on the current stop like a concession machine or small game and 2) that you know where you're going next and what you're doing for the next stop.

STEP 3 CONTINUED - SET UP (2+ unit delivery)
STEP 3 CONTINUED - SET UP (2+ unit delivery)
All of the same guidelines apply but there are multiple pieces of equipment so the strategy to be efficient is different.
The biggest key here is that as a team you will be folding and rolling all inflatables before any get taken to load on the truck.
1 person does the cords, blowers, generators etc while the other person does stakes and begins zippers and deflating.
Once all stakes are out, cords/blowers/generators handled then you start folding and rolling one by one until all units on site are ready. We recommend you start with the biggest/most difficult unit first then work your way to the smaller units.

Kindness to a customer goes a long way. Greet them, say thank you, let them know you're finished and say goodbye. Interaction goes a long way not only for a good customer experience but for employee tips as well.
Once again DO NOT leave anything behind. Make sure you picked up all items that were on the order for that stop and make sure you didn't leave accessories behind. Stakes are the most common item that gets left behind.
